Anatomy Trains® Interactive DVD Series Explain Fascial Tensegrity and the Myofascial Meridians for Bodyworkers

Walpole, Maine – October 1, 2005 – Kinesis, Inc. today announced that it has released a new DVD series of Anatomy Trains: Myofascial Meridians for Bodyworkers. Program 1 provides a comprehensive overview of “Fascial Tensegrity,” where bodyworkers learn about the important role the connective tissue fabric and the development of the fascial network. Program 2 examines each of the human body’s twelve Anatomy Trains lines, their components and their relationships in detail. Together, these programs teach the holistic ‘anatomy of connection’ in a way that no other muscle-by-muscle and bone-by-bone anatomy course has ever done.

Program 1: Fascial Tensegrity

Using models like Bucky Fuller’s Tensegrity structures, viewers can see how the myofascial system transmits the forces of gravity, action, strain and trauma around the body. To make it fun, Tom Myers compares these myofascial continuities to train lines with ‘tracks’ and ‘stations’ and uses this metaphor to present the rules and the map that these meridians of structure follow. The Fascial Tensegrity program lays the tracks for the next program in the series, “The Myofascial Meridians.”

Program 2: The Myofascial Meridians

By understanding the twelve Anatomy Trains Myofascial Meridian lines of transmission, viewers can better address stubborn local myofascial pain problems by unwinding global postural patterns. Everyone knows that problems sometimes disappear when manual therapy is applied at some distance from the symptom or problem. Now we have a map for seeing how and why this happens. Tom Myers uses skeletons, videos, personal demonstrations, dissections, graphics and animation for this lively presentation.

About Tom Myers and Kinesis, Inc.

Thomas Myers, is a Certified Advanced Rolfer®, LMT, NCTMB, and is currently the director of Kinesis, Inc. Myers founded Kinesis, Inc. in 1994 to provide education nationally and internationally on Anatomy Trains and a certification program in Kinesis Myofascial Integration (KMI), an advanced form of Structural Integration. Kinesis courses are geared toward massage and physical therapists as well as chiropractors, yoga practitioners and Pilates instructors interested in making a change in people's lives through 'Spatial Medicine.' Tom’s research and approach has revolutionized the teaching of movement anatomy away from the 'single-muscle theory' toward a more holistic appreciation of muscular interactions and their role in posture and dysfunction. Kinesis offers courses internationally in integrated soft-tissue approaches, including Anatomy Trains supported by the Anatomy Trains DVD, and DVD-ROM series. Prior to founding Kinesis, Myers trained directly with Dr. Ida Rolf, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, and Buckminster Fuller and has practiced integrative bodywork for more than 30 years.
