ANATOMY TRAINS® POSTERS
COMPLEMENT THE SECOND EDITION OF ANATOMY TRAINS BY THOMAS MYERS AND ILLUSTRATE THE MYOFASCIAL MERIDIANS
A visual guide for manual and movement therapists includes breathtaking new renderings of the myofascial meridians described in Myers’ book.
WALPOLE, Maine – February 5, 2009 – Kinesis, Inc., the leading educator of Kinesis Myofascial Integration (KMI) bodywork, announced today the availability of the newly-updated wall posters designed to complement the second edition of Thomas Myers’ Anatomy Trains, published by Elsevier.
Anatomy Trains presents Myers’ unique, ‘whole systems’ views on functional anatomy and especially the body-wide connections among the muscles within the fascial net. The first edition of Anatomy Trains was published in 2001 and has become one of the standard manuals on human anatomy for somatic practitioners – blending embryology, development, evolution, and functional anatomy in a read that provides basic insights to the neophyte as well as challenging concepts to the experienced practitioner.
These posters, completely redesigned to align with the second edition of the book, are intended as a visual reference to the myofascial meridians discussed in Anatomy Trains. They include all new artwork from the prominent British anatomical artists Philip Wilson and Deborah Maizels, whose previous work was with the latest edition of Gray’s Anatomy. Measuring 12 by 17 inches, these laminated posters make a valuable addition to the walls of manual and movement therapists’ studios, for refreshing their memory about connected anatomy or to show clients why work in one area will be effective in another.
The detailed artwork, in a cool 'fascial blue' shows each line from multiple angles, including all the fascial and muscular structures involved in each line. Also included on the posters are line diagrams linked to a detailed listing of each 'track' and 'station' in the Anatomy Trains line.
Since the first edition, Myers has expanded his classroom world wide to include courses in fascial technique and visual assessment that go beyond standard and advanced structural integration into what he calls ‘Spatial Medicine’. His insights and teachings of functional anatomy shed light on how the body moves and stabilizes, and on how to spot the visual clues for compensatory pattern recognition. Myers’ Anatomy Trains concepts have demonstrated appeal to a wider audience of practitioners, including massage therapists, structural integration practitioners, acupuncturists, chiropractors, cranial sacral therapists, osteopaths, physical therapists, Pilates therapists, yoga therapists, athletic trainers, as well as dance and movement teachers.
Pricing and Availability
The Anatomy Trains posters are available via the Kinesis web site store at: www.anatomytrains.com and via Amazon.com . The are sent in tubes to protect them during shipping. The cost is 59.95.

About Anatomy Trains
The Anatomy Trains concept, devised by Thomas Myers, provides useful language describing the ‘anatomy of connection’ in which muscles are functionally linked in series through the unity of the fascial network that runs throughout the body; muscles work as an integrated system rather than as individual units. The 'Anatomy Trains' myofascial meridians provide a revolutionary map for analyzing whole-body soft-tissue patterns that leads to positive new strategies for unwinding these patterns via manipulation and movement-oriented work.
About Thomas Myers and Kinesis, Inc.
Thomas Myers, is a Certified Advanced Rolfer®, LMT, NCTMB, and is the director of Kinesis, Inc. which he founded in 1994 to provide continuing education to massage and physical therapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, yoga practitioners, Pilates instructors, personal trainers and those interested in making a change in people's lives through 'Spatial Medicine.' Kinesis offers courses nationally and internationally in integrated soft-tissue approaches, including courses in Anatomy Trains® Myofascial Meridians, Body Language and its highly-regarded certification program in Kinesis Myofascial Integration (KMI), an advanced form of Structural Integration bodywork. These courses are supported by the Anatomy Trains book, DVDs on fascial technique, visual assessment, and dissection, and the Anatomy Trains Primal Pictures DVD-ROM.
A prolific writer and speaker, Myers’ research and systemic approach to postural and movement patterns has revolutionized the teaching of anatomy away from the 'single-muscle theory' toward a more holistic appreciation of muscular interactions and their role in posture and dysfunction. Prior to founding Kinesis, Myers trained directly with Dr. Ida Rolf, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, and Buckminster Fuller, and has practiced integrative bodywork in a variety of clinical and cultural settings for more than 30 years.
