Yoga

Anatomy Trains is widely applicable to both hatha and ashtanga yoga and has great explanatory power for the (biomechanical, at least) intent of the asanas.

Here's what a few experts in this field have to say about Anatomy Trains:

Eric Franklin, dancer

Eli Thompson, LNCMT

Deborah Rubin, certified Yoga teacher

Elaine McGillicuddy, certified Iyengar Yoga teacher

Owners of Yoga on High

Tias Little, certified Iyengar and Ashtanga Yoga teacher

This image, taken from Tom's Anatomy Trains, shows that such flexion-extension movements engage the SFL as a whole.

In the backbend, the SBL is contracted, while the SFL is stretched. The reverse is the case with the second pose, showing the reciprocal relationship between the two lines.
