Take a Knee – Update on Meniscus and ACL injuries – Sports Medicine Orthopedic and Manual Therapy approaches with Tom Myers and Arun Rajaram MD, FAAOS
Please join Anatomy Trains author Tom Myers and Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery, Dr. Arun Rajaram, as we explore the anatomy, pathology, and treatment options for meniscus and ACL injuries.
Also joining in will be Dr. Matt Jordan, former elite athlete and strength and conditioning coach and renowned sports medicine researcher. Dr. Jordan will present on rehabilitation for the knee.
From a biomechanical perspective, the knee is an “elbow designed by committee”. The knee is a hinge that also rotates between the two longest bones in the body. This may be excellent engineering, but the stresses of such leverage can cause either acute or long-term problems that require various degrees of ‘invasion’ to restore.
In this richly-illustrated webinar, we examine the common points of stress in the knee, and review approaches to manual and surgical intervention to restore both function and support.
Key takeaways:
- Assess postural patterns in the knee including “x” and “o” (varus and valgus) and rotational patterns and how these patterns are influenced above and below the knee
- See inside the joint with our innovative fresh tissue dissections revealing all of the muscles attaching to the knee, as well as the menisci and cruciate ligaments – all as it works in movement of the knee joint.
- Learn about different types of meniscus and ACL / MCL commonly occurring injuries in athletes
- Explore and discuss manual therapy and innovative arthroscopic surgical treatment options for meniscus and ACL injuries.
