From a biomechanical perspective, the knee is an “elbow designed by committee”. The knee is a hinge that also rotates between the two longest bones in the body. This may be excellent engineering, but the stresses of such leverage can cause either acute or long-term problems that require various degrees of ‘invasion’ to restore. In this exciting new webinar, we will examine the anatomy of the knee, common points of stress, BodyReading patterns in the knee and how they impact the feet and pelvis, and review approaches to manual therapy restore both function and support. Senior Anatomy Trains teacher Michael Watson will be working with a model to take you through a structural integration session including BodyReading, Movement Assessments, Strategy, and specific myofascial techniques for working with the knees.

In Part 2, Michael will be covering assessment and treatment for the opposite – a very clear O (genu valgus) pattern.

Key takeaways:

  • Learn the anatomy of the knee, including different types of meniscus and ACL / MCL commonly occurring injuries in athletes
  • Assess postural patterns in the knee including “x” and “o” (varus and valgus) and rotational patterns and how these patterns are influenced above and below the knee
  • Learn skills for Bodyreading postural assessment, movement assessments for understanding specific patterns in the knee
  • Discover strategies for manual and movement interventions to assist in restoring function and support in the knee

Run time: 8 hours, 23 minutes
