The best and most salient course in shape you will ever take. Jaap van der Wal, PhD, MD, presents the most comprehensive and comprehensible account of how the body shapes itself in the womb, and how that relates to our consciousness, our movement, and our psycho-emotional states. Every practitioner of ‘Spatial medicine’ – meaning all bodyworkers and movement teachers – needs this information to understand the problems and opportunities that appear in our practices every day. This 4-day intensive will change how you perceive the body, and open you up to new strategies for your clients – and even your own development. The class is primarily Jaap’s, with Tom providing, questions, explanation / interpretation of the more difficult bits, and exercises to embody the concepts. From Aristotle to da Vinci to Goethe to Blechschmidt, this is a mind-blowing tour of the embryological morphology that modern science has ignored.
Tom says: I have been trying to assemble this information since I first started learning anatomy – and my best effort appears in the first chapter of Anatomy Trains, and in the Embryology webinar. But Jaap has it all in his vast storehouse, with the best synthesis of the changing shapes of embryology I have ever discovered. We are honored to have him here in Maine with us, and I am honored to co-teach with him, though my role will be as questioner and interpreter, and provider of occasional levity and movement, as this course is definitely a deep dive into how we come into form in the material world.
