The big toe plays a far more significant role in whole-body stability than most practitioners realize. When the hallux engages intentionally, it activates the deep posterior compartment of the leg and supports tension through the body’s medial fascial line—creating a powerful foundation for balance, propulsion, and structural integrity.

In this Anatomy Trains webinar with Senior Teacher Michael Watson,  we will explore how the big toe functions as a key stabilizer within the myofascial network. Rather than treating the foot as an isolated structure, we will examine how the hallux influences load transfer through the medial arch, tibialis posterior, deep posterior compartment, and the broader fascial continuity of the medial line.

Participants will learn how intentional engagement of the big toe contributes to:

• Improved foot tripod organization and arch stability

• Efficient activation of the deep posterior compartment

• Balanced force transmission through the medial line

• Enhanced gait mechanics and propulsion

• Whole-body postural support from the ground up

Through anatomical insight, functional demonstrations, and practical assessment strategies, this session will give practitioners tools to help clients reconnect with one of the body’s most overlooked stabilizing structures.  Michael will work with a client to demonstrate these principles in practice and give you practical tools for yourself and your clients.

Whether you work with movement, manual therapy, rehabilitation, or performance, understanding the role of the intentional big toe can transform the way you approach stability, gait, and whole-body integration.

This webinar is designed for Structural Integration practitioners, physiotherapists, osteopaths, and movement professionals.

Students will have lifetime access to the recordings.

This course will be provided over Zoom webinar with live chat and Q&A.
