In this innovative new dissection event with Master Dissector Todd Garcia and narrated by ATSI teacher and Dissection Lab Instructor Thadd Dudrey and ATSI CEO and Dissection Lab Instructor Mel Burns, we will explore the anatomy and physiology of self expression. This course is in live Japanese translation with master translator Kaori Tani.
Our face and voice allow us to express a rich tapestry of information that not only communicates and resonates to those around us, but also influences our own internal physiology.
Join us as we examine:
- Facial structure, muscles and nerves
- Voice and speech generation
- Mastication/chewing
We will also cover the involvement of the autonomic nervous system in physiological states, and discuss the emerging science behind Dr. Stephen Porges’s polyvagal theory relative to self expression (facial expression and vocal expression).
Furthermore, some structures will be discussed in relation to cosmetic procedures.
Over the 2 sessions, we plan to look at and discuss the following:
- Epidermis, dermis, hypodermis of the face and neck
- Buccal fat
- Buccinator
- Masseter
- Temporalis
- Lateral Pterygoid
- Medial Pterygoid
- Corrugator supercilii
- Mentalis
- Nasalis
- Occipitofrontalis
- Orbicularis oculi
- Orbicularis oris
- Procerus
- Risorius
- Zygomaticus major and minor
- Trigeminal nerve
- Abducens nerve
- Facial nerve
- Glossopharangeal nerve
- Vagus nerve
- Parotid gland
- Laryngeal muscles
- Vocal folds
- Tongue and related structures
Do not miss this unique one-of-a-kind event to experience self expression from a completely different perspective.
