Anatomy Trains and Laboratories of Anatomical Enlightenment present Dissection Livestream Specialty Class: LumboPelvic Stability – A One-Day Layered Dissection with Tom Myers and Todd Garcia
Understanding our ’spinal engine’ requires first-hand knowledge of the many crossing layers of fascia and myofascial sheets around the spine. Module 1 explores the posterior side of this lumbar ‘pump’, from latissimus dorsi and the superficial nerves down through the more profound layers of the thoraco-lumbar fascia, linked to the erectors and posterior abdominals, and finally to the tiny (but neurologically mighty) muscles that truss the vertebrae deep in the neural arch.
A deeper understanding of lumbopelvic stability (and power) comes in Module 2, where we study the myofascial ‘grip’ on the front of the spine – the bodies, discs, and transverse processes. Here we expose the iliopsoas complex, the quadratus lumborum, and the deep autonomic and somatic nerves, as well as exploring discs and relevant ligaments. Putting the anterior and posterior together yields a coherent picture ofnhow the human animal stands up on its hind legs.
All in situ, all unfolding in real time with a master dissector, all untreated tissue, with natural colour and movement. This unique and one-off course is designed for osteopaths, physiotherapists, advanced trainers and rehabilitation workers. Come see the body’s actual ‘core’ for yourself.
This course will be provided over zoom webinar with multiple camera views, live chat and Q&A. Recordings will be provided via password protected streaming access for 5 days.
Note: To ensure a high quality student experience, registration will CLOSE at 8PM EDT on Friday, September 17th
This special dissection livestream format allows us to go more deeply into the relationships and applications to multiple manual and movement modalities, from athletic training to trauma resolution to osteopathy.
This course is open to all, but due to its advanced nature, some prior experience with dissection, especially our 4-day dissection livestream, is recommended.
***Please note this program is for the intellectually mature and involves unfixed human cadaver images***
