Presented by Tom Myers
For a human being, breath is the axis between the conscious and the unconscious. Natural breath can be suppressed by injury, held-in feelings, patterns of tension, or plain old bad posture. This workshop focuses on manual therapy and movement solutions to restore the full inhale and exhale, as well as the rhythm of breath. This workshop includes work in the neck and low back, which support the rib cage, as well as the more than 100 joints within the rib cage itself. Learn how the different sections of the rib ‘basket’ work in the breath, and how to enhance the movement of each section.
Breath is very active in stress and self-regulation, so learn techniques for yourself and your clients in how to up-regulate and down-regulate the arousal system in therapy, sport, and in stressful situations. Different ways of shaping the diaphragm lead to different emotional and mental states. A full breath is a key to a full life.
