The Thoracolumbar Junction (TLJ) is a key organising region in the body, acting as a structural bridge between the thorax and pelvis. Within Structural Integration, this area is central to Ida Rolf’s concept of the “Line”—the vertical organisation of the body in gravity that supports ease, efficiency, and coordinated movement.

The TLJ is also a critical meeting point of the Anatomy Trains Deep Front Line (DFL), linking the diaphragm, crura, psoas, pelvic floor, and lower limbs into a continuous system of support. When this region is well organised, the DFL can transmit load and information effectively through the centre of the body, supporting upright posture, breathing mechanics, and functional gait. When it is restricted or overworked, compensations commonly appear both above and below.

In this two-part webinar, we explore the TLJ through the lens of Structural Integration, combining contemporary anatomy and movement science with Ida Rolf’s original insights into the lumbar hinge and vertical alignment. You will learn to recognise common TLJ patterns, understand their impact on posture and movement, and apply practical assessment, movement, and manual strategies to support better organisation through the Line.

This webinar is designed for Structural Integration practitioners, physiotherapists, osteopaths, and movement professionals and connects directly with the principles introduced in the Core to Contour webinar. Continuing Education credits (CEs) are available for eligible participants. Students will have lifetime access to the recordings.

This course will be provided over Zoom webinar with live chat and Q&A.
