We are continuing this innovative series of webinars with ATSI teacher Michael Watson, working with a model to assess patterns in the shoulder girdle on top of the rib cage and relationship to the Thoracic Spine. We will use the lens of Anatomy Trains BodyReading principles for static and movement assessments of the shoulder girdle and arms. Demands on arm usage with computers and phones have increased, requiring a complex equation of stability versus mobility to balance correctly on the rib cage, and the shoulders can easily be used to compensate for thoracic and cervical deviations, or be the cause for them.
These compensatory patterns can often lead to issues travelling down into the arms and hands, up into the neck and jaw or even into the spine and rib cage. You will learn to recognise ‘ideal’ and compensated patterns and how to understand them relative to the rest of the body. Michael will demonstrate assessments working with a live model, which will help to develop your own skills in BodyReading. From initial assessments, a strategy will be developed on how to work to create more balance and ease, and Michael will demonstrate Anatomy Trains fascial release techniques to provide a holistic perspective on working with your clients on issues with Shoulders and Arms.
You will receive guidance on assessments, strategy, and techniques on:
- Balancing the shoulder girdle on the rib cage
- Releases for each joint of the shoulder
- Soft-tissue techniques for shoulder muscles
Recordings will be provided via password protected streaming access for 45 days.
