Join Anatomy Trains author Tom Myers in a detailed kinaesthetic tour of the human hip – in posture and in gait. Starting with the abductors, into each of the deep lateral rotators, we will differentiate the 20 myofascial ’straps’ that cross the hip joint, individuating all the adductors and flexors – and a few more besides like the abdominal obliques and sacral multifidus — all centered around the health of the three pelvic floors – superficial, muscular, and fascial.
This course is open to all manual and movement therapists. Manual techniques will be taught, with applications to yoga, Pilates, personal training, and martial arts.
Biomechanically, we humans require a unique pelvis, providing a stable support for the tentpole of a spine while dynamically responsive in walking and play. Imbalance from the hips translates down to the feet and up to the neck – this course explores the effects pelvic balance in all three planes of motion.
Emotionally, the pelvis is the seat of so much energy, but so many blocked feelings. So many of our clients ‘brace’ themselves through the low back and hips. Birth, sex, surgery, attitude, and poor body use all leave their scars.
How do we best assist clients to let go of the outer tension and then the deep inner patterns? How do we get them to integrate freer, more efficient patterns? Let Tom’s 50 years of experience be your guide to the body’s foundation.
