The Anatomy Trains superficial front line, back line, lateral line, spiral line, arm lines, functional and deep front line are all involved in dynamic, tensegral relationships in every step you take. In these 2 x 3 hour modules, we will explore the anatomy and dynamics of gait from the ground up, with Master Dissector Todd Garcia, and Anatomy Trains Structural Integration (ATSI) certified teacher, Physical Therapist, and founder of ZOGA Multidimensional Movement, Wojtek Cackowski. Todd and Wojtek will be broadcasting live together from the Laboratories of Anatomical Enlightenment in Boulder, CO!
Module 1: Anatomy and Dynamics of Gait in the ankle, foot, knee and thigh
Key takeaways from this module include the functional anatomy of foot, ankle, leg, knee and thigh relative to gait. Underpinning all of our daily and athletic movement is the foot’s interaction with the ground, where imbalances definitely cause compensation further up the body. Effective arch dynamics are essential for easy graceful walking, including the intricacies within the quadriceps and hamstrings, and the ligaments and menisci that inhabit the knee. Our discussion includes common postural patterns and common injuries, as well as fascial glide, vectors, and Anatomy Trains principles involved in gait.
Module 2: Anatomy and Dynamics of Gait in the hip, thorax, ribs, spine and arms
Come on a guided tour of the pelvis to see the dynamics of stability and mobility in gait. The abductors, adductors, deep lateral rotators (especially obturator internus and piriformis) and flexors, including the quadratus lumborum and psoas complex, all play vital roles in efficient walking. Through Todd’s skillful dissection and Wojtek’s embodied commentary, we trace how issues can travel both up and down from the legs to the spine or the spine through the pelvis to affect the legs, as well as the spiral dynamics of the ribs and arms in gait.
This course will be provided over zoom webinar with multiple camera views, live chat and Q&A.
Recordings will be provided via password protected streaming access for 10 days.
This special dissection livestream format allows us to go more deeply into the relationships and applications to multiple manual and movement modalities.
Note: To ensure a high quality student experience, registration for this course will close on Friday June 23rd at 8PM EDT. Zoom links will be sent out promptly after registration closes.
