Breath in Your Neuromyofascial Web
Presented by Tom Myers

Breath is a never-ending wave of life.  Our breath never stops, but we humans introduce holding to our breath that saps our consciousness and energy and attention away from the present moment – in yoga or in life.

In this course, we get to explore breath in a variety of ways, based on Tom’s 50 years in the field, including:

  • The Anatomy of Breath:
What are the 120 joints moved by your breath?
One muscle or 600? The role of the diaphragm and ‘accessory’ muscles
Where, how, and why we interrupt breath?
    Airway ease and head posture
Core support – getting the hips under the breath
  • Easing the problems, Allowing for change
Movement and manual therapy for augmenting the inhale – and the exhale!
How to see where someone lacks breath – and how to facilitate opening.
Trauma release: Breath mirroring as a fail-safe method.
Movement and manual therapy for breath support in standing and working
  • The Physiology of Breathing
    Emotional: Breath and autonomic system
The Vagus nerve in stress and attention
Trauma resolution and breath patterning: prana and apana
    Managing stress with breath
  • Breath management in yoga and life
    Patterns of maladaptive breathing
    Pranayama: patterns of adaptive breathing
Breathing and exertion: how adaptable is your breath?

Join Tom for a fascia-nating tour around our breath, filled with practical tips for the yoga teacher, bodyworker, or for anyone interested in mastering the contradictions of a ’natural’ breath.
