Balancing the Diaphragms: Exploring the Fascial and Functional Connections of the Diaphragms
A three part webinar series with Julie Hammond, director of Anatomy Trains Australia & NZ
Balancing the Diaphragms looks at the fascial and functional communication between the six diaphragms in the body. It takes a global lens when treating pelvic diaphragm dysfunction but is more than a workshop for the pelvic diaphragm. In these workshops, we will look at breathing dysfunction, temporomandibular joint disorder, restrictions in the throat that can affect speech or swallowing, and restrictions from below that can affect these tissues. We explore the fascial origami and make seemingly complicated anatomy understandable and fun. To understand anatomy, you need to hear, see, and feel it; these workshops will focus on information relatable to clinical practice.
Part 3: The Larynx, Jaw and Floor of the Mouth
In this two-hour webinar, we will delve into this amazing anatomy, exploring the anatomy of the larynx, jaw and tongue. Your voice is a direct expression of who you are inside and out. Your larynx is fascially connected to your heart and respiratory diaphragm. The extrinsic muscles around the larynx are fascially connected to the endothoracic fascia, which connects to the respiratory diaphragm, transversalis fascia and fascial pelvic diaphragm. Adding the missing piece between the pelvis and respiratory diaphragm, the glottis. How do the structures of the throat affect the breath and pelvic diaphragm? How do the structures below, such as the feet, pelvic diaphragm, and respiratory diaphragm, affect throat and jaw tension? This webinar will be a mix of theory, experiential, self-release movement and clinical application. It will include detailed assessment and techniques on a model.
