Karen Clay

Seattle, WA, USA

Karen began her association with Structural Integration (SI) by receiving a Rolfing series upon earning her BA in dance. What resulted was a significant reduction in the degree of her spinal curvature (scoliosis.) This profound change launched Karen on her path. Her awe and respect for the magic of SI has continued to grow and develop over the past 28 years. In 1985 Karen became licensed as a Massage Therapist, and in 1996 was certified by the Zentherapy® school of Structural Integration. Furthering her education, she was certified in 2007 as a KMI practitioner.

Karen loves this work. It is a well-crafted road map on a journey of discovery and emancipation for any individual so inclined. She has particular interest in discerning movement patterns and providing movement cues/exercises that allow clients to discover how to best identify and maintain neutral alignment in their daily lives. She feels privileged to be able to accompany her clients on this rich and profound process of transformation toward wholeness. It is a most satisfying occupation to work with (not on) clients, putting our two hearts and minds together to solve the mystery of individual expression through alignment.

As an outgrowth of her ongoing studies in the field of Somatic Education, Karen developed and has taught her own movement/awareness classes, Somatic Unwinding® and Essential Breathwork for 20 years. Her classes are approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork as continuing education. Karen became a Board Certified Structural Integrator (BCSI) in 2011.
