Joe Sweeney

Watertown, MA, USA

Joe became interested in bodywork after being treated for a shoulder injury sustained during martial arts training. The impact of those treatments led Joe to the Muscular Therapy Institute (MTI) in Cambridge, MA.

While still a student at MTI, Joe went through the Structural Integration series and found it to be a life-changing experience. Within three months of graduating from MTI, Joe had started his training in Structural Integration with Tom Myers. He is proud to have been in the first class that Tom certified. Joe continues to be amazed by the changes that his clients are able to experience through Structural Integration.

Joe holds a first-degree black belt in aikido and is an assistant instructor at Bushido-kai dojo in Framingham. He has an ongoing project exploring the connection between bodywork and martial arts. (Insights welcomed.) For the past decade, Joe has also been active in medical and healthcare publishing, producing books such as Introduction to Human Movement, Sports Medicine, and Job Stress for Simon and Schuster.
