Training for an Active Birth: Preparing your muscles, bones, and fascia for a successful birth and recovery
Live online with Anatomy Trains author and bodyworker Tom Myers and Andrew Martinez, certified strength and conditioning coach and owner of Built Well for Birth
Giving birth is the most athletic event – and a uniquely internal ‘marathon’ – most women will ever experience. And yet, aside from useful but limited breathing techniques, few women get the specific training they need for the journey of giving birth. In this workshop, we will cover:- How tissues change during and after pregnancy
– How to prepare the pelvis and perineum for opening
– Movements and breath to ease distress during the 3 stages of birth
– Scar tissue and repair of cut or torn tissues
– Pelvic floor sufficiency pre- and postpartum
We also focus on the partner’s and the professional’s role in preparation, and advocating for the mother in the medical system. Awareness is power, and mother and baby empowerment and ease, with healthy outcomes for the family, is our aim. Whatever manner you or your client chooses to give birth, we are here to support autonomy and connection with the miraculous physiology of actively giving birth.
This course explores:
- Myths and folk wisdom on birth preparation
- Smart core training for pre- and postpartum issues
- Stretches and exercises for opening the birth canal, while maintaining pelvis integrity
- Stress management during birth
Students will have lifetime access to the recordings.
This course will be provided over Zoom webinar with live chat and Q&A.
