“I want to express my gratitude and appreciation of the webinar. Todd was amazing with his artistic dissection and I resonate with Mel’s words of how a dissection changes the way you treat as a soft tissue therapist. This was my first experience and I look forward to attending Anatomy Trains education in the future.” – Ashley Law, Structural Integrator / Bodyworker (Myotherapist)
Special Dissection Livestream with Todd Garcia and Mel Burns
The foot and ankle often carry the blame for pain, dysfunction, and limited mobility. But what if the real story is happening higher up the chain?
In this livestream dissection webinar with Master Dissector Todd Garcia and Anatomy Trains CEO and Dissection Lab Instructor Mel Burns, we’ll explore the often overlooked role of the interosseous membrane of the leg and its powerful influence on foot, ankle, and knee mechanics. We will be working with a donor that has never been frozen, embalmed, or chemically altered, ensuring the most natural color, movement, tissue quality and images. We have multiple camera views and a depth of anatomical precision not found in textbooks. This special event offers and extended viewing time of 30 days.
Using an integrated anatomical lens, we’ll look at how key structures of the lower leg and foot coordinate to create stability, adaptability, and efficient movement.
Together we’ll explore relationships between structures including:
- Talus and Calcaneus
- Interosseous membrane of the leg
- Tibia, Fibula, and Tibial plateau
- Extensor retinaculum
- Peroneus longus
- Tibialis anterior and posterior
- Extensor and flexor groups of the toes and hallux
- Plantar aponeurosis
- Abductor hallucis
- Cuneiforms, cuboid, and navicular bones
- Transverse tarsal and tarsometatarsal joints
- Metatarsophalangeal and interphalangeal joints
We’ll also discuss how these structures interact to influence knee mechanics and overall lower limb function.
This session is ideal for:
- Manual therapists
- Structural integration practitioners
- Movement professionals
- Yoga teachers
- Physical therapists and bodyworkers
- Anyone interested in deeper functional anatomy of the lower limb
You will come away with deeper insights into the anatomy of the lower leg, foot and ankle, and how the interosseus membrane plays a critical role in foot and ankle function.
We will provide an extended 30 days access to the recordings for this special event.

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
This course will be provided over zoom webinar with multiple camera views, live chat and Q&A. Recordings will be provided via password protected streaming access for a special extension of 30 days. This special dissection livestream format allows us to go more deeply into the relationships and applications to multiple manual and movement modalities, from athletic training to trauma resolution to osteopathy.
