Lecture from Dr Srino Bharam

Unlocking the Lateral Chain: Fascia, Function, and Fixes of the Iliotibial Band and Hip

Discover the critical role of the iliotibial band and surrounding fascia in lateral hip function and dysfunction through an in-depth exploration of surgical anatomy. This presentation equips physical therapists, manual therapists, personal trainers, and coaches with the skills to recognize key examination findings that help diagnose gluteus medius tears and IT band syndrome. Attendees will also gain insight into surgical techniques, indications, and effective postoperative management to better support recovery and performance outcomes.

Practical application from Alex Leto, DPT

The Truth About the IT Band: Unlocking Its Role in Movement, Performance, and Pain

The iliotibial (IT) band is more than just a strip of fascia—it’s a dynamic player in full-body movement, often misunderstood and overlooked. In this powerful presentation, you’ll learn how the IT band is influenced by mobility, motor control, and tissue capacity, both in isolation and as part of the body’s larger fascial sling systems. Whether you’re a physical therapist, manual therapist, personal trainer, coach, or athletic trainer, you’ll gain three-dimensional insights into how this complex tissue truly functions—unlocking smarter strategies for assessment, performance, and long-term injury prevention.
