Presented by Jaap van der Wal with special guest, Tom Myers
The workshop explores human prenatal development from conception forward. Learn how the shaping of the body (morphogenesis) expresses essential attributes of the development of the both the matter and the spirit of the human being. The scientific method of phenomenology creates a synthesis between modern embryology and holistic anthropology.
In Jaap’s seminars, Anatomy and Embryology come together in a real ‘Life’ science. As anatomist, Jaap became an expert on the architecture of connective and muscular tissue and developed a holistic view on the functional regulation of our posture and locomotor system. In this course you will see functional architecture as a whole, not just traditional musculoskeletal anatomy. Jaap’s phenomenological approach brings fascia to life as the “organ of innerness, biotensegrity, and wholeness”.
THE EMBRYO IN US. This seminar is for those who are interested in fascia, posture and the locomotive system, but also open to philosophical questions like: What moves us, actually? Am I “moved by” … (a brain e.g.) or do I move myself? And what is the difference? All in the frame of A.T. Still’s mantra: “Man is Mind, Motion, Matter.” Special guest Tom Myers will add in short, intermittent practical sessions of his view on and the result of his digestion of the presented ideas and concepts.
Jaap van der Wal, PhD, MD, was associate professor of Anatomy and Embryology at the University of Maastricht, Holland, until 2012. Nowadays he is full-time teaching seminars and workshops of Embryo in Motion around the world. In his 4-day workshops, Jaap finds science and religion, matter and spirit, macrocosm and microcosm, creation and evolution all meeting each other in the phenomenal process of becoming human. He teaches at institutes of Anthroposophy, Craniosacral Therapy, Osteopathy and Polarity Therapy around the world for practitioners as well as laymen.
