Maija’s interest in movement and bodywork began early in life as a serious student of dance. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, she spent several years working and studying in the field of Physical Therapy before deciding to pursue training and licensure in Massage Therapy. Maija completed a combined program in Clinical Massage Therapy and Neuromuscular Therapy at Red Mountain Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2000. She spent several years practicing in a variety of settings, including spas, health clubs, and private practice, and studied Prenatal Massage during that time.
After a hiatus from the field which allowed her to commit more time to parenting, Maija has focused her work and study on Structural Integration and Craniosacral Therapy, which form the basis of her bodywork practice today. She has a special interest in working with dancers and other artists, people going through life transitions, and anyone who is curious about Structural Integration and how it can assist them in reaching their own personal potential.
