Owners of Yoga on High

Here at Yoga on High, we (Martha Marcom, Marcia Miller and Linda Oshins) have enjoyed working with Tom as our main anatomy teacher over the years. Unlike many anatomy instructors, who view the body as relatively unintegrated parts, Tom’s construct is more global. While he does have an unrivaled grasp of the parts, he understands how they integrate into a seamless whole, and how something, i.e. tension or an injury, in one part of the body has ramifications elsewhere in the body. His work in anatomy trains is very valuable to us as yoga teachers and practitioners. As we observe our students we can more easily understand lines of tension and resistance in their bodies and offer a wide array of ways to help them either in group or private sessions. We can also understand how yoga poses effect the body up and down the anatomy trains, and how collapse in poses ins related to a shift in the body from one line to another. Sometimes we teach whole classes on individual lines.
