I have been a huge fan of Tom Myers' work for many years. In particular I find the AnatomyTrains concepts to be a valuable means of looking at all kinds of functional and biomechanical relationships in the body. One place where I have found it particularly helpful and informative is in trying to distinguish soft-tissue pain as a result of neural tension from that arising out of fascial pulling. It can be tempting for practitioners to jump to conclusions about the presence of adverse neural tension because of positive results on orthopedic neural tension tests. However, I find it crucial to also consider fascial pulling across multiple joints (along the anatomy trains fascial lines) as a possible explanation for the same symptoms. In a number of cases I have seen instances where further investigation into lines of fascial tension revealed fascial binding that imitated neurological symptoms.
