Biography Movement and balance are core to successfully establishing a grounded life. As an active enthusiast and competitor in outdoor activities of canoeing, sea and whitewater kayaking, hiking, cycling, Fred carries that perspective into his role in bodywork for the client by being an instrument of change in maximizing kinetic potential through educating and enabling the client to make healthy choices for themselves in balance and movement. Through KMI, this is achieved by the direct application of manual therapy and of guided movement, thus offering a path to those who seek more physical openness and integration to achieve actualizing the potential of the client and their own bearing, movement, posture, and performance. Fred is a Certified KMI practitioner, having graduated in 2005, and a licensed massage therapist in both Oregon and Washington. He received training at East West School of The Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon and has been involved in somatic studies since 1996. Additional training in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Strain Counterstrain, Soft Tissue Release and a personal practice of Iyengar Yoga have been incorporated into his somatic work to create an enabling touch for the client. This approach is coupled with the empathy of a person who has created a path of past personal debilitating pain. Through KMI, one can create a supporting framework for change and opportunities for relief whether from chronic pain or for the desire for increased performance in the client's chosen sport or activity. Fred maintains a private KMI practice in West Linn, Oregon by appointment.
