Eli Thompson, KMI, CTK, LMT

I have been a Licensed and Nationally Certified Massage Therapist for eight years. I graduated at the Muscular Therapy Institute, a two year program with strong emphasis on anatomy, physiology, and pathology. In 2002, I completed a 450-hour program on KMI Structural Integration at Tom Myers school: Kinesis. I am regularly awed by the power of this work to transcend our physical limitations and ingrained phsyco/social habits and attitudes. It is a truly rewarding experience to witness my clients growing into themselves in this deeper sense.

I am so committed to KMI Structural Integration that in 2005, I became a Certified Teacher of Kinesis (over 500 hours of training). The saying “You don’t fully know it until you can teach it” is true, as my knowledge of the work has certainly deepened. I now travel the East Coast teaching 2-4 day weekend workshops, titled "Anatomy Trains". These intensives are designed to introduce the theories and practices of KMI Structural Integration to massage therapists.

I have also redesigned the traditional Ida Rolf bench. In Structural Integration some of the work is done with the client in a seated position. It is best performed when the client sits in correct ergonomic posture which requires that the bench be height adjustable. I realized that the origional design was cumbersome and had to be custom made. So, after five prototypes and much thought and effort, BenchWorks benches are now available to the whole Structural Integration community. Over two hundred benches have been sold and are currently used in all the major Structural Integration schools. Learn more about BenchWorks at www.EliThompson.com
